Snapchat, what does the emoji of your friends means?
You have probably seen them on Snapchat. Yes,those emoji next to your friends’ names.
There are so many of them. All different and they are not always the same!
Do you want to know what exactly they mean and why they appear on your profile? Continue to read…
The gold star (?) means that someone has responded to a snap of this person in the last 24 hours.
The yellow heart (?) that you are each other’s #1 best friend. Well, at least on Snapchat (translated: you send this person the most snaps and vice versa).
The red heart (❤️) means you have been super friendly for two weeks.
The pink hearts (?) that it’s been going on for two months.
The baby face (?) means you just became friends with this person.
The smiley face with sunglasses (?) that one of your best friends is also among this contact’s best friends.
The smiley face with the grimace (?) hides a possible jealousy scene from too much friendship: your best friend #1 is also this person’s best friend #1.
The winking face (?) means that you are one of this contact’s best friends, but the thing is NOT mutual, i.e. this person sends you lots of snaps, but you don’t do the same.
Do not to be confused with the smiley face (?): he’s one of your best friends, but not best friend #1.
And then there are the emoji that indicate a repeated snap exchange with that contact:
fire (?) and the number 100 (?. You’ve been going on for 100 days).
What if the trail of exchanged snaps is about to stop? The hourglass (⌛) reminds you.
Finally, there’s the cake (?), if it’s that friend’s birthday and he/she has activated the appropriate option to let you and others know.
All clear?

Facebook introduced two new emoji to stay united (Even if distant) during this period of time – #stayhome
What you would give for a hug, especially during this delicate moment where many of us can be called to stay home and practice social isolation.
Facebook gave a try to convey some help introducing two new emoji: a smiley face hugging a little heart and a beating heart.
The first is available on Facebook, while the heart emoji is available on Messenger.
Facebook’s EMEA communications team representative Alexandru Voica wrote on his social profile:
We want this to be a way for people to share their support for each other during this unprecedented period,” “We hope these reactions will give people other ways to show their support during the Covid-19 crisis

What do the stars mean in Snapchat?
Gold stars have caused confusion since their initial release. They appear next to any other emoji a person might have, and there seems to be no rhyme or reason to their appearance.
Basically, what they mean is that someone has repeated this person’s snap in the last 24 hours (it could be you or it could be anyone of their other friends).
The best way to understand this?
Your friend probably has something good to show you and you should give a try and check it out!
What are the filters I can add on Snapchat?
They might not be as fancy as Instagram’s new filters but Snapchat’s filters can still do a lot to make your selfies a little more artistic.
Take the photo as you normally would, then swipe left or right to add filters:
three basic color photos can increase contrast, brighten the photo, or make it black and white, while other filters let you show off your current speed, outside temperature, or weather.
If you are in a popular location (even the major cities!), you might also use a geolocation filter to focus only to your area.
What changes can you make on Snapchat?
If the filters are not personalized enough for you, do not worry about it: Snapchat has got a solution!
Three buttons in the top right corner of the photo allow you to place re-sizable emoji stickers, add stylized text, or draw freestyle on the image.
These features are a great way to add your own spin to the images you send .
What is a Snapchat story?
A Snapchat story is a collection of snaps you have taken over the course of a day or event. The snaps are displayed in the order they were taken during the last 24 hours and can be viewed an unlimited number of times by any of your friends.
This can be a great way to curate memories over the course of a day trip or to create elaborate stories or gags.
Add photos to your story by pressing the square button in the center-left of the screen and selecting “add”.
What are Snapchat Discover and Snapchat Live?
Snapchat is not just for chatting with your friends!
On the “Stories” screen, you can see the “Discover” and “Live” sections, which are both awesome features that allow Snapchat to extend its reach beyond the circle of friends.
Snapchat’s Discover: Snapchat has become a powerful tool, bringing the world of news, events and trends to millions of users in an instant.
this option allows you to watch curated stories from sources like the Food Network, CNN, MTV, National Geographic, and the Daily Mail.
These stories generally contain short video titles and a text article (if you scroll up). Each of these stories is updated once every 24 hours, making the Discover feature the Snapchat equivalent to your personal daily magazine!
Live serves a similar purpose, but instead of being carefully curated content, it hosts fun news stories from around the world.
These stories are curated using Snapchat’s geolocation feature: if you’re from the area where Snapchat is located, you’ll see a “Our Story” option where I would normally post your personal story.
If you choose to submit your snap to the Our Story feature, it will be reviewed by Snapchat staff and added to the 24-hour story, if relevant to the event.
Can you chat with Snapchat?
Snapchat is wonderful for sending updates to your friends the moment something happens, but communicating back and forth can be frustrating if your conversation is broken up into 10 second segments!
Luckily, Snapchat supports real-time text and video chat. If you and your friend are simultaneously using the app, flip to the chat screen (slide your finger over their name) and then press the blue dot to start video chat or send an old-fashioned instant message if you prefer !
What are Snapchat trophies?
Most Snapchat features make sense, but this one is not true. However, it’s worth knowing that Snapchat offers trophies to its users for completing various tasks around the app like “sending a video snap” or achieving different Snapchat set scores.
You can see your trophy case by swiping down on the camera screen to access your user profile, then tap the trophy above the icon to view the trophies you have received so far!
Who gets to see my shots?
Since its launch, there have been concerns about the privacy and security of Snapchat users.
Snapchat has reached such a large scale that it is now more important than ever for you to take care of your security consciously while using the self-destructing photo app.
It is important to be aware that snaps have been retrieved before and that other users may take screenshots or photos of sent snaps.
While there is reason for general caution when using the app, you can also change the settings to increase some security.
You can access the settings button at the top right of the user profile screen (scroll down to the main screen) and it allows you to set your username (use something other than your full name!) AND who can send snaps (set to ” friends “or” custom “for maximum privacy), who can view your history (again, set to” friends “or” custom for added security).
Also, know that you can block users who are spam (or rude) so they ca not send you snaps or see any of yours.
Whom should I add on Snapchat?
Most people use Snapchat to communicate with their real-life friends, but it can also be a great way to be aware of what interesting people are doing around the world.
Most YouTube stars, musicians and celebrities now have Snapchat and should advertise their username quite freely.
Also, some brands are getting in on the action and using Snapchat as a way to advertise promotions and sales.
It is also good to know that many famous users will have a custom emoji after their name indicating that their account has been verified – it’s a good idea to be skeptical of any unverified account that promises to be a celebrity!
